In the US, more than 6 million people on Facebook have identified themselves as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or gender non-conforming, and nearly 1 million people in the US have joined a Facebook group in support of the LGBTQ community.
This is the story of Justin Kamimoto, who in 2011, started a Facebook Group to support LGBTQ youth in the conservative area of California’s Central Valley. The group has helped countless of teens and young adults find acceptance, an outlet, friends, and in some instance, critical assistance in times of crisis. The growth and impact of the group inspired Justin to create an organization called My LGBT Plus to provide additional resources for young people, no matter how they identify.
